SERVICES
MIXdesign provides the following menu of services to universities, cultural institutions, governmental entities and commercial clients:
Workshops
We conduct workshops to raise awareness, initiate a dialogue and build stakeholder consensus around the complex and often sensitive social, political, and practical issues posed by inclusive design.
End-user Engagement
MIX coordinates and conducts engagement practices - surveys, interviews, focus groups and participatory design workshops to enable our clients to understand the unique needs of the end-user communities they wish to serve.
Assessments
MIX evaluates how an existing facility or space addresses equity, diversity and inclusion.
Toolkits
We work with clients to develop Toolkits consisting of Inclusive Design Guidelines (principles, policies and prototypes) that take into consideration safety, universal access, code compliance and cost. Toolkits also include recommended engagement practices that make inclusive design principles central to the client’s internal project development process.
Pre-Project Planning
We work with clients on the initial planning phases of a project to create concept design and feasibility studies that incorporate inclusive design principles and standards.
Project Development
We join project teams, serving in the capacity of Inclusive Design Consultant. We also lead project teams as Executive or Design Architect through our architecture and design branch JSA (Joel Sanders Architect).
Thought Leadership
In addition to our client-initiated commissions, MIXdesign is a proactive think tank that investigates the design consequences of diversity and inclusion, considering how inclusive design is impacted by urgent social, political and environmental issues. We conduct design/research funded by grants, foundations and corporate sponsors that explores timely social challenges that require inclusive design solutions.
